Pitcher of the day - Corbin Burnes
Corbin Burnes is a serious candidate to win the AL Cy Young award in his first season with the O’s. If the season ended today, Burnes would probably finish right behind Tarik Skubal, Luis Gil, and Tanner Houck in award voting, who have all been phenomenal this season.
Burnes has a 1.59 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and a 13/41 BB/SO rate in 45.1 innings in his last seven games. Burnes’ dominance continued in St. Petersburg last night against the Rays, with Burnes throwing 92 pitches in 7 innings against the Rays. Burnes allowed two unearned runs in those seven innings, struck out six, and walked just one.

Game of the day - Astros vs Giants
This game started as a pitcher’s duel, as Giants starter Kyle Harrison allowed one earned run in 6.1 innings, and Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti also allowed just one earned run in 5.2 innings.
Mike Yastrzemski prevented Arrighetti from completing six innings with a 2-out triple with two outs in the sixth innings, plating Jorge Soler to put the Giants ahead 1-0.
Jeremy Peña tied the game with a sacrifice fly to score Yordan Alvarez in the top of the seventh inning.
With the game still tied at 1-1 in the top of the tenth inning, Victor Caritini knocked in the automatic runner with a sacrifice fly to left field. Later that inning, Alex Bregman came up with runners on the corners and one out, hitting an RBI single on a grounder up the middle to extend the Astros lead to 3-1.
In the home half of the tenth, Brett Wisely singled on the third pitch he saw to knock in the automatic runner and put the Giants within a run. With runners and first and second base, Brett Wisely hit an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3. With the bases loaded and one out later in the inning, Austin Slater hit a line drive to left field that banged off the wall, scoring the winning run and putting a 4-3 Giants win in the books.

Storyline of the day - JT Realmuto to undergo right knee surgery
Phillies catcher JT Realmuto will undergo right knee meniscectomy surgery tomorrow and will be placed on the 10-day injured list. The Phillies star catcher has a .267 xBA and .457 xSLG this season.
Realmuto joins Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner on the Phillies injured list, so it will be interesting to see if Philly stays hot during the absence of three key contributors in their lineup.
